Thanksgiving Project

This is our largest outreach of the year. It takes dozens of volunteers and tons (literally) of food to prepare for this BIG DAY.

The Thanksgiving outreach is a really fun time for our volunteers. The entire family kicks in. We start the morning out preparing the boxes for our guest families. All the turkeys and boxes are loaded onto trucks and taken to a nearby church for distribution. (Our facility is too small to handle the large crowds.) While all of the packaging is going on, other volunteers are at the church where the outreach takes place. There, volunteers are welcoming and signing people in, leading the guests in songs and praise, and preparing for the arrival of the groceries.

Most years we expect between 350 and 500 guests families. Every family gets a turkey or ham plus all the trimmings to make a great holiday meal.
